No chance against the current
"During my last 6-week holiday I was in Mexico, Huatulco, about 500 km south of Acapulco. I was there because of the numerous beaches, my favourite was Playa Chahue, directly in the town of Huatulco, thus easy to reach on foot or by bike, and the beach also has the Blue Flag. The only disadvantage: 1-2 times a week there quite big waves and current.
Since the Mexicans themselves were not deterred by these conditions, I also swam my laps several times, no further than 100 metres from the shore. Unfortunately, however, it did happen... While I was snorkeling, I was unintentionally dragged further out. I only noticed this when I lifted my head out of the water again after a few minutes. There was a current out there which I didn't feel at all for the first 100 metres. When I noticed it, and of course that I was barely getting off the spot, I triggered my Restube and waved with the bouy to get a local fishing boat’s attention. The fisherman set course and came closer and during this time I was able to stay afloat nicely and relatively relaxed, despite the situation.

Restube Saves 7-Year-Old Boy Struggling Against Strong Currents in Sardinia
"Yesterday a 7 year old boy got into serious trouble with his SUP in Capo Coda Cavallo, a bay on the east coast of Sardinia.
He tried in vain to reach an island off the coast against the current and wind. The family were standing on the beach shouting and waving when I noticed the situation while swimming. After weighing up the options and risks, I swam out and reached the exhausted child about 400 metres off the coast. I was able to get the child on course and escort him safely to the beach. The parents had allowed the child to go on the 'tour' without knowing the local conditions.

I never want to feel that helpless again
On a recent trip to the Outer Banks N.C. we had a very rough surf with strong rip currents. Although my adult sons and I love bodysurfing the waves, one of my sons got caught in a rip tide which pushed him out 25 yds from us. It was terrifying to watch and I felt unprepared to rescue him if needed (he was able to make it back in).

When swimming, particularly competitive open water swimming, a muscle cramp can be a life-threatening condition. Having an emergency inflatable can be a lifesaver, which is exactly what this is for. The Restbue is a small nylon pouch secured with velcro. I actually thought the pouch would be about half the size it actually is. Inside the pouch is a folded inflatable tube, along with a CO2 inflator. The pouch has straps used to strap the pouch to the swimmer, normally around the swimmer's waist.

Love how light weight it is and the fact that even after you inflate it. you can replace the cartridge to use it again. First inflate was by our curious daughter.
Provides a little extra peace of mind when the teens want to go out in the water but your still unsure if you should let them without a life jacket.

The "package" is a lot smaller than expected, which is good when you're being active.
I haven't used mine yet (because it's the winter) but will be using it once the season starts. It's much smaller than other inflatable belts so I'm sure lots of people will be asking me questions about it.

This rescue tube is great. It's a small package that can be tucked towards the lower back out of the way during water activities. We're hoping to never use it but stuff happens. I like that the CO2 canisters are common thread - according to the FAA you can put up to 4 of these in checked luggage.

Hey guys! The swim buoy is pretty nifty because I wouldn't even notice pulling it behind me if not for the belt shifting a bit in rougher waters. Plus I'm visible to all the sailors, sup paddlers and such.
It carries my weight (75 kg) well. It helps a lot in rougher waters, because it floats over top the waves with you instead of you having to push yourself on top of each wave (= nice to take a breather). One just has to know that you have to maintain a little bit of body tension not to roll off of it (You can't just lean over it and relax completely.).

We are using Restube automatic for our 3 kids. Staying on an island with 3 kids between 3 and 6 years requires our full attention all the time. Additionally we equip them each with one Restube automatic which helps us in case they slip from the rocks.

I think this is a great light-weight and low profile safety device to have for water sports where you can’t use the vest; however, for kids or less seasoned swimmers, I think it is better to use the vest if you can.

Literally this item is a lifesaver, it's a must if you a swimming on the beach where it might be a little bit dangerous due to the strong waves. I think is good to remind whoever is using this item to also use common sense and don't think that this item will save you in any condition no matter how strong are the waves.

I use this product for a few weeks for kitesurfing. Once assembled on the harness it´s always with me and will provide extra floatation when it comes to any critical situation. Restube is a product for more safety in the water. Small and light, Restube is always with you. Simply strap it around your waist or on your equipment and get into the water. If necessary, pull the trigger vigorously and the yellow Restube buoy inflates in seconds. If you lean over the buoy, your head rises out of the water. Now you have time to orientate yourself and recharge your batteries. Restube is perfect to provide buoyancy for yourself or for others.
The most effective way to immediately contain critical situations in the water is to have additional buoyancy right next to you. Restube is so small that you can always have it with you and it doesn’t affect your mobility in the water. But if you want buoyancy, all you need to do is pull the trigger. You can also pass the buoy on to someone else or wave it to draw attention to yourself.
Yes, if you dive and release Restube under water, the buoy pulls you up. It is connected to the safety line with the belt. The same amount of gas always flows into the buoy, which means that at sea level and room temperature it is well filled. When you dive, the ambient pressure increases by one bar for every 10 m of water depth, and at the same time the buoyancy force is reduced in depth, as the gas is compressed. This results in the following buoyancy depending on the depth:
0m depth = 1 bar = fullbuoyancy = 75N = 7.5kg
10m depth = 2 bar = half buoyancy = 37.5N = 3.75 kg
20m depth = 3 bar = third buoyancy = 25N = 2.5 kg
30m depth = 4 bar = quarter buoyancy = 18.75N = 1.87 kg
40m depth = 5 bar = fifth buoyancy = 15 N = 1.5 kg
As soon as you get higher again, the resulting buoyancy of the buoy increases until it is fully available again at 0m/sea level.
Restube is recommended for good swimmers aged 10 and over. The child needs to understand that in an emergency situation they need to trigger and hold on to the buoy. It’s best to let your child try Restube a few times in shallow water while you’re with them. They experience how easy it is to trigger and how well the buoyancy can help immediately.
